About

The Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home has moved from West Everton to North Everton on the border with Anfield, from social housing to private ownership.

The Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home is now (from 2014) run from a four bedroom town house on a new estate in Everton after having been run out of a housing association property (2008-2013).

The Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home hosted a number of events, residencies and conversations throughout 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016, 2017 and continues its work throughout 2018. The Institute is interested to discuss homemade aesthetics, the private/the public, the familial, class and money matters.

The Institute is open to visits, proposals for projects, performances, discussions, screenings, residencies, exhibitions, actions and presentations. Email us at theinstitute@twoaddthree.org

The Institute’s running budget for this year is 10% of twoaddthree’s combined net income (i.e. two university lectureship salaries and child benefit, with occasional artist fee) which currently stands at £523 a month – this is an increase from the year 2008 when the Institute monthly budget was £238 when the adults were on 0.5 contracts and the bottom of the pay scale for university lecturers.

We anticipate that this budget will cover expenses for all the Institute activities including publishing, provide a nominal fee for invited artists, cultural activists and speakers to cover their expenses. The Institute is committed to financial transparency and all events are free for audiences.

The Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home was originally set up in 2007 to collide with the Liverpool 08 European Capital of Culture, or what we have come to call Culture of Capitalism, C®apital of Culture or even Capital(ism) for Vultures. The Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home is a space for dissenting the capitalisms of cultures. Please note that the Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home is NOT and has never been affiliated to Liverpool08.
