Dissemination

The parents have been busy writing up some of the Institute’s past activities. We’ve published articles in Research in Drama Education and Contemporary Theatre Review journals.

Lena visited York St John University and delivered ‘lunchtime artist talk’ to postgraduate students and staff about the Family and its Discontents: family picnics and family residencies within the context of other live art initiatives in domestic spaces.

The Liverpool Anarchist Communist Sunday School

The Institute are currently involved in developing a theatrical performance about The Liverpool Anarchist Communist Sunday School together with Lorena Rivero de Beer and Ste Higginson. This is about rethinking radical history and asking questions about children’s education and critical thinking. The Politics and Aesthetics Reading Group 2012

In 2010 the Institute joined forces with Lorena Rivero de Beer in starting up the Politics and Aesthetics Reading Group. The group meets once a month. More information about 2010 and 2011 activities is available in ARCHIVE.

The Politics and Aesthetics Reading Group responds to a desire to create a space that supports our effort to read philosophical/political theory outside academic environments and develop our critical thinking. The group is directed to people interested in exploring the complex relationship between art/aesthetics and politics.

2012 saw the group engage with Herbert Marcuse’s ‘An Essay on Liberation, Primo Levi’s ‘If This is A Man’ and Donna Haraway’s ‘Manifesto for Cyborgs’.

Late May, we will spend in Wales celebrating Gary’s 40th Birthday and considering ageing.
